Who Can Play:
Red Dirt is the summer baseball program for our players here at Norman North, as well as the incoming middle schoolers and incoming freshman identified above.
What Are the Teams:
All of our teams will play in the Red Dirt League. We will have 4 teams in the summer program. The teams will be:
Varsity 1 Team
Varsity 2 Team
Freshman Team— those who will be entering their freshman year
Middle School team—incoming middle schoolers at Whittier and Longfellow Middle Schools
**We will place the players on the team that we feel is best for them, as well as Norman North Baseball.
Cost:
$250 and is due May 10th (May 24th for accepted incoming 8th and 9th graders - at the mandatory parent meeting). Checks made out to Norman North Summer Baseball or you can Venmo @nnsummerbaseball.
For payment questions, please contact Wendi Farrell at wendifarrell1@aol.com by email or text at 405-641-3663.
You can email Coach Aylor at baylor@norman.k12.ok.us should you have any questions.
This covers league entry fees and insurance, field rental fees, coaching stipends, equipment, field materials, field maintenance, and jersey.
What to Bring:
Each player needs to provide the following items: solid white baseball pants, solid black helmet, dark green socks, dark green belt as well as glove and bat.
Catchers need to have gear in Norman North colors: black, grey, or dark green.
When:
The season will begin May 31 and end June 22. Games will generally be double-headers two days a week (Monday, Tuesday, and/or Wednesday).
We are asking that you make a serious commitment to be present at every game if you are going to play for us this summer. If there are conflicts, please communicate those to the coach in charge of your team. Most league games will be double headers. We will get the finalized schedules to you once they are completed and we get closer to summer.
Where:
All summer games will be played at Norman North or the away site for the team you are traveling to play. Almost all games will be played locally in the metro area.
Why:
We feel summer baseball is all about development. It is imperative that the young men in this program play summer baseball for Norman North to continue to grow and develop as an individual and as teammates. This has to occur for us to continue to compete at such a highly competitive level in 6A. The summer is the best time to teach the game as well as be able to evaluate the players in this program as we get ready for the 2023 season.
